Chargers Public Enemy #1

I kind of put this on the back burner and just really forgot all about it until people started asking me who is number 1 on the list. This Chargers Public Enemy List includes the top 10 players or coaches that Chargers fans despise. These will be players or coaches that are currently in the league and we finally have reached number 1… DRUM ROLL PLEASE!!!

With the first pick, in the 2004 NFL Draft, the San Diego Chargers select… Eli Manning! Eli draws the hate from Chargers fans because of his dad Archie’s request for the Chargers to NOT draft him with the first overall pick. We still drafted the little punk with the first pick and he stood in front of the audience holding the Chargers jersey with a dopey look.

We quickly traded him to the New York Giants and picked up one of the best quarterbacks in the league for him. We picked up our boy Philip Rivers through that trade and also Shawne Merriman and Nate Kaeding. It was definitely a trade that turned out well in our favor!

The thing that really irks the Charger fans is that Eli won a Super Bowl before Philip. Number 17 is a much better quarterback than Eli, but Eli has the jewelry and us Bolts fans are still searching for that Super Bowl chance.

Here’s my take on him. I couldn’t be happier that he wasn’t glad to be a Charger. Why? Because we got Philip Rivers who is the better quarterback and plays with way more fire and heart. Sure Eli has a ring, but it’s definitely not due to his sole effort. That’s majority on the Giants defense and rush game. So in essence, THANK YOU ELI! For the great gift of Philip Rivers! Rivers will have his ring soon.
