We're better off with Norv

The Great Norval

We missed out on the playoffs last year and everyone was pointing fingers one way or the other. A lot of the fingers pointed toward AJ and a lot of the fingers pointed toward Norval. Whoever you had your finger pointed at doesn’t matter because we are in a better position for this next season having both of them back, especially Norv.

This lockout is screwing up everything for all the NFL teams, but it’s especially troublesome for teams that are looking to introduce a brand new coaching staff and a brand new coaching philosophy into their franchises. The lockout prevents these coaches from installing that game plan and playbooks with the team. That will be a huge setback for all those teams trying to make that transition and quickly make a step forward.

A couple of teams in our division have to deal with bringing in a new coaching staff. The Raiders and the Broncos are going to try and compete, but will be stuck at the starting gate while teams that have been established and have a lot of veterans will have a huge advantage.

We have Norval leading the troops another year and this may be his last chance if he disappoints again, but we have the advantage of keeping continuity with the team scheme and offensive game plan. The roster is familiar with the style of play that is expected and will be able to start out more quickly since they are more comfortable in their roles.

Philip Rivers is able to run practices with the team and he knows the play book front to back and will be able to point the rest of the team in the right direction during practice. Norval for one more year was the best decision for this team… at least for now.
