Free Agent Watch: Travis LaBoy fits in with the Chargers

you wanted a long hair linebacker

Remember this name when free agency starts: Travis LaBoy.

He has already been mentioned by a couple of writers (Kevin Acee and Scott Bair) as a possible free agent signing by our Bolts when that time comes. He fits the typical AJ low profile free agent and already has a relationship with our defensive coordinator Greg Manusky. Manusky and LaBoy were both in San Francisco last season.

He was mainly used as a reserve in the San Francisco system, but was still able to pick up five sacks. He could be a possibility to share some time with Larry English and could start if Larry has one of those injuries pop up on him again.

LaBoy could work his way into the rotation immediately and add toughness to the defense. We have a couple of guys that are going to be free agents and their statuses are up in the air.

The Chargers should also look into bringing back Antwan Barnes to play special teams and provide the relentless pass rush on passing situations. He joined the team in the middle of the season and added a spark to the defensive pass rush.

Antwan Applewhite may have worked his way off the team with his antics in Pacific Beach. He took the starting position when Larry English went down and did an OK job.
