Time for Larry English to prove he can get the job done

It was supposed to be Larry’s turn last year when we let go of Lights Out, but he was slowed down with injuries and never got a chance to shine. Antwan Applewhite had to take over the position with Larry sitting on the sideline and Merriman sporting Buffalo colors.

We went into the draft thinking that we would be adding an outside pass rushing linebacker to compete with Larry for playing time, but we left the draft without picking one up. Martez Wilson and Justin Houston were available in the second round for us to select, but we went in the direction of Marcus Gilchrist and Jonas Mouton.

Larry English is our guy! He better have been preparing during this locked out off-season, because the starting outside linebacker position is all his without much competition. Antwan Applewhite and Antwan Barnes are both free agents and hopefully we can bring them back. Barnes brings a good pass rush off the edge on third downs and Applewhite is a good backup.

Larry still has not proven his worth to the San Diego fans and some of Bolt Nation is getting impatient and is ready to move on. We drafted a big ol’ boy to play in front of him and to occupy blockers. Hopefully Corey Liuget can keep the blockers off of English enough for Larry to make some plays.

This is going to be a big year for him and it’s time for him to prove his worth! I want double-digit sacks!
