Chargers to meet with top cornerback from the University of Miami

The Chargers have a meeting with one of the top cornerback prospects in this years NFL draft – University of Miami standout Brandon Harris. Harris is considered the 3rd best corner in this year’s draft behind LSU CB Patrick Peterson and Nebraska CB Prince Amukamara.

Harris has great speed and is a great cover corner. He likes to make the big hit with his small frame and he knocks a lot of balls down.

As a Charger, he would be the 3rd corner behind Antoine Cason and Quentin Jammer. He could make an immediate impact covering slot receiver, playing where Donald Strickland played last season. Jammer’s days as a corner are running thin and the Bolts will need to start looking at possible replacements soon.

Harris is expected to be drafted late in the first round or possibly into the second round. There has been a lot of speculation about the Chargers making a move with the Patriots to get into the late first round. Harris may be one of the players that AJ Smith is targeting at that spot.

A big hitter, he’s already better than a previous corner we had, not to mention any names…ahmm Antonio Cromartie. Jammer is a great CB and I hope the coaches continue to position him correctly. I like experience more than anything.

Darn you, I had to look up his height :(

Should be included in the article.

Swift, you got me. You might as well be an editor on the Blog :) he is a small guy that tries to make that big hit. 5-10 if anyone else wanted to know. It might cause injuries to him down the road.
