Rumor: Bolts to Sign Steelers 2009 5th Round Pick Frank Summers

Frank Summers, the Steelers 5th round pick in 2009, will sign with the San Diego Chargers, a league source tells Inside Pittsburgh Sports.

The Steelers offered Summers a contract to return but Summers sees the Chargers as a better fit due to their style of offense, source indicates. Other teams were also in the mix for his services. –

I have only seen a couple of Pittsburgh Steelers sources come through on this, so let’s wait for an official word on the signing.

Summers looks like a hybrid back that can be used as both a fullback and tailback. He is a monster of a man and would be useful in goal-line situations. With his size running the football, he reminds me a lot of Mike Tolbert.

Tolbert could be a great mentor for the young back since they have a similar running style (big bulldozer type) and would have a similar role in the Chargers offense.
