Chargers Hire Greg Manusky as Defensive Coordinator

Hardcore. Relentless. Getting after people (The Chargers) have in the past. Shoot, they were No. 1 last year and hopefully we’ll just pick up where we were last year.

I’m going to bring some new ideas but also continue the foundation that they’ve already had and just build on it. I think with the players that we have, the sky’s the limit.- Greg Manusky on Defensive Philosophy

The San Diego Chargers announced the hiring of Greg Manusky as the defensive coordinator, he signed a 2-year contract today. He will take control of the league’s number 1 defense and will bring an aggressive defensive philosophy to the Chargers. He had held the same position with the San Francisco 49ers for the last 4 years and was with the Chargers organization as the LB Coach before that.

He has the tough task trying to live up to the standards that Ron Rivera set before him. He has some good talent on the roster and is familiar with some of the players from his days as the Chargers coach.

Let’s welcome him into the organization and find out what moves we make in the offseason to help strengthen the defense. A couple of players from his 49ers defense are becoming available, most notably LB Takeo Spikes. He would be a great pickup for the middle of the defense. The Chargers will also look to upgrade safety, outside linebacker, and defensive end positions this offseason.

if the chargers pick the raiders corner and the niners spikes, maybe draft pick c hayward at DE.. time to take a real look at castilo , WRs jackson …but someone needs to look at team conditioning for these slow starts and early injuries

i absolutely agree with you on the conditioning of the team at the start of the season. We need to bring in Mike Shannahan just to make sure that the team comes into training camp ready to go. norv needs to run that same test that they do up there in washington.
