Antoonio Gates will take this week off with his injury, but still has not ruled out playing next week.
“I never said I wasn’t going to go next week,” Gates said. “I don’t know where people are getting the idea that I will be down for two weeks. Maybe it was misinterpreted in the wrong way.”
“I never said I wasn’t going to go this week. I just said that I needed to rest. That is the key to getting healthy…But you know how I am. It is going to be hard to just keep me off the field.” – Dan McLellan
I still would expect Gates to rest next week in order to give him more time to rest his feet before a possible playoff game.
As mentioned yesterday, Stephen Cooper is listed as out and LB Brandon Siler will take over the starting position at inside linebacker.
Under Norv Turner, no player listed as doubtful has suited up to play on Sunday. That would mean that WR Patrick Crayton and WR Malcom Floyd will miss another game. Crayton is expected to be ready next week against Denver.
Floyd already has one injured hamstring and during practice, he injured his other hamstring.
“I guess the other hamstring got mad because I wasn’t paying enough attention,” Floyd joked. “I’m certainly focused on it now. It isn’t as bad as the other one, but it is a disappointment that I’m dealing with another injury just after getting healthy again.” – Kelly Marone
WRs Legedu Naanee and Kelley Washington will see increased playing time with those injuries.
