The Chargers took care of their business earlier in the week by beating the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday. On Sunday, the Chargers were scoreboard watching and were rooting for the Pittsburgh Steelers and the St. Louis Rams. The Chargers wanted both teams to win in order to give themselves a better opportunity to get into the playoffs.

The St. Louis Rams were taking on the first place Kansas City Chiefs in St. Louis. QB Matt Cassel came back from his appendectomy to lead his Kansas City Chiefs to victory. He was not very sharp in the game, but the Chief defense was able to slow down the St. Louis Rams offense. The Chiefs held the Rams to 13 points and forced QB Sam Bradford into 2 interceptions. Kansas City RB Jamaal Charles sealed the game late with an 80 yard run to set up a touchdown for RB Thomas Jones. Kansas City 27 – St. Louis 13

The Kansas City Chiefs retained their 1 game lead over the Chargers in the AFC West with 2 weeks left in the season. The Chargers will be visiting Cincinnati next week while the Chiefs will be at home against the Tennessee Titans. The Chargers need to win in the final 2 games and hope that the Kansas City Chiefs lose in one of their next 2 games in order to steal that AFC West Title.

The Pittsburgh Steelers were at home facing against the New York Jets. The Jets Brad Smith opened up the game by returning the kickoff 97 yards for the score. The Jets were able to do just enough on offense to outlast the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers dominated the stat sheet but were not able to score enough points to take the victory. New York 22 – Pittsburgh 17

The Jets retained their 2 game advantage on the wild card spot over the San Diego Chargers. There are only 2 games left in the season and the Jets can lock up that playoff spot next week with a victory. The Chargers opportunity for the wild card spot is dwindling after that Jets victory.

The Chargers will need to continue their winning ways and hope to get help. The AFC West Title will be the best opportunity to get in. The Chiefs have the Titans and the Oakland Raiders remaining on the schedule and this thing will run right down to the wire. The Chargers will be doing a lot of scoreboard watching to finish out the season.
