SAN DIEGO — San Diego police said Tuesday that Chargers wide receiver Legedu Naanee is not a suspect in a Pacific Beach street brawl that left a 21-year-old man injured.
“He was absolutely not involved in the altercation,” San Diego police Capt. Chris Ball said.
A man who witnessed the fight that took place about 2 a.m. Monday outside the Bar West nightclub on Hornblend Street told investigators that Naanee had nothing to do with it, Ball said.
Ball said the witness, who was at the bar as a designated driver, was “absolutely credible,” and that he was familiar with the NFL player.
Naanee told officials that he was at the club with other Chargers players but that he did not see the fight and did not know why his name was mentioned.
“That’s the challenge for a public figure,” Ball said. “That’s who people remember.” Investigators have determined that no Chargers players were involved.
Naanee is cleared from any troubles from the incident on Sunday. The Police say that is was ABSOLUTELY not Legedu Naanee in the altercation.
Prayers definitely out for that kid who still is in a coma from the beat down. Hopefully the news still keeps us informed on the health of the kid, because that is just scary.
