PLAYERS TO WATCH:
DE Dwight Freeney
6-1, 268, Syracuse, 9 years in the NFL
19 Tackles, 7.0 Sacks, 4 Forced Fumbles
Freeney is a fearsome defensive end that comes off the quarterbacks blind side and beats the lineman with his speed rush and spin moves. He is very agile at the defensive end position and is one of the best in the business at getting to the QB. He is a 5x Pro Bowler and a 3x All Pro. Marcus McNeill will be matched up with him during the game and this will be one of the best individual matchups to watch on the field. 2 Pro Bowl players will be battling out the whole game.
S Antoine Bethea
5-11, 203, Howard, 5 years in the NFL
65 Tackles, 1 Forced Fumble
Bethea leads the team in tackled with 65 and will be all over the field. He makes a lot of tackles. He is a 2x Pro Bowl selection and we will look to beat him in the passing game, he does not yet have an interception on the year and we hope to keep it that way.
DE Robert Mathis
6-2, 245, Alabama A&M, 8 years in the NFL
37 Tackles, 7.5 Sacks, 1 Forced Fumble
Mathis is a 2x Pro Bowl Selection and currently leads the team with 7.5 sacks. It will be up to Jeromey Clary to keep him off of Philip Rivers long enough to allow him to make the throw down the field.
The Colts do a fairly good job against the pass BUT are terrible against the running game. It will not stop the Chargers from airing it out though. The Chargers are first in the league in passing the ball. They will definitely need to be successful in the running game in order to keep the defense off of Rivers and give him enough time to hit his receivers down the field. Look for a lot of Mike Tolbert and a lot of play action mixed into the offense. Vincent Jackson will be returning to the offense and Darren Sproles has had some memorable moments against the Colts as well. Should be a fun high flying game to watch.
