Former San Diego Chargers linebacker, Shawne Merriman left his first practice with the Buffalo Bills with an injury. The injury looks to be the same achilles and the calf injury that he had suffered with San Diego. He doesn’t look like he can stay healthy anymore. He wasn’t even able to finish one whole practice with his new team.
All you fans that thought that Shawne Merriman was done as a player, it looks like he is proving you all right (so far). The Bills picked up Merriman’s contract and are now stuck in the same situation as the Chargers were. Welcome to our world Bills fans!
Shawne put 10 pounds on his body and went out there and had a little strain and we didn’t want to chance anything. So we’re getting it checked out completely and we’ll see what happens from there, but it wasn’t anything major.
What happens is everyone gets their expectations so high. You’ve got to realize he hasn’t played a lot of football and hasn’t had pads on in a while. All of that stuff. We want him out there, but he’s not quite ready. We’re not going to put him out there until he’s ready. That’s the number one thing. We’re not going to put him out there until he’s ready. – Chan Gailey (BuffaloBills.com)
