Merriweather Should Have Been Suspended

The main talk around the NFL this week is the helmet to helmet hits that were delivered last weekend.

The main focus here is a player that the Chargers will be facing against this weekend, Brandon Merriweather. Last weekend, Merriweather laid a CHEAP SHOT on tight end Todd Heap and after the game was slapped with only a fine of $50k. That SHOULD have been accompanied with a SUSPENSION! When you launch yourself in the air with the intent to use your helmet as a weapon, you should not be allowed to play in the game until you learn the fundamentals of tackling. Merriweather is putting other players at risk with that kind of play on the field and it should not be tolerated.

The Chargers are already walking wounded into this game and will have to worry about head shots from Merriweather when they go over the middle. If there are any plays from Merriweather that are questionable helmet to helmet hits, then he should be THROWN OUT of the game! He already was able to escape from a suspension. Hopefully Merriweather is a little more tentative in his play, which can allow for some big plays against him.
