Week 5 Injury Report

SAN DIEGO - AUGUST 14: Linebacker Shawne Merriman of the San Diego Chargers works out before the game with the Chicago Bears on August 14, 2010 at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, California. Merriman signed his one year tender contract on Friday and isn

LB – Antwan Applewhite – Foot – Probable
Applewhite will be able to play and will be backing up Shawne Merriman at outside linebacker. He should see plenty of game time action since Merriman has been fragile all season long and might be limited in action.

LB – Larry English – Foot – OUT
English is still recovering from foot surgery and will not be able to go in this game

RB – Ryan Mathews – Ankle – Probable
‘Bam Bam’ was able to play last week and will be able to play on the ankle this week. He was limited in practice on Friday to get some rest on the ankle. Mike Tolbert will get the start today, but Mathews will see plenty of action.

LB – Shawne Merriman – Calf – Probable
Shawne will be able to play today and will be the starter. He needs to be able to leave the game uninjured. He has been fragile all season long and might be limited in snaps in an attempt to keep him fresh.

LB – Brandon Siler – Foot – Doubtful
Siler will more than likely miss the game. Stephen Cooper is the starter. It is unfortunate for Siler, he has been having a good season and has been challenging Cooper for more playing time.

SS – Darrell Stuckey – Hamstring – Doubtful
Stuckey was not able to practice all week long and that will probably lead to him being listed as inactive for the game. He might have been able to see more action on the defense this week with the suspension of Steve Gregory.

G – Louis Vazquez – Knee – Questionable
It is good to see the upgraded status on Vazquez and see that he is progressing to be the starter again. He was limited in practice and might sit out the game to give more rest to the knee. Tyronne Greene will fill in at the guard position and start the game. He might be 1 game away.
