Starting Safety Steve Gregory will be suspended 4 games for violating the NFL policy on performance enhancing substances.
I was completely shocked to find out about this positive test from May during the offseason. I have never knowingly used any form of performance enhancing substance; however, as an athlete I know that I am responsible for everything that goes into my body – Gregory said in a statement.
Sounds like the same statement that every athlete comes out with when they get hit with the suspension. It is disappointment to have players using PEDs and trying to get the upper hand in the league.
Gregory was playing well as the starter. He had 30 tackles and an interception so far in the season and will be replaced with Paul Oliver. Oliver started 3 games last season for the Bolts. We also drafted Darrell Stuckey in the offseason in the 4th round and he will see more playing time.
The defense currently ranks number 1 in the league and has had to work through a lot of missing players. Merriman, Cooper and English all missed games already in the early season. Oliver and Stuckey should be a capable replacements for 4 games and we will have Gregory back to face the Texans.
General Manager AJ Smith has another player to put in his dog house now to join Vince Jackson and Shawne Merriman.
