Chargers Injury Report: Week 4

Listed below is the injury report for this Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals:

LB Stephen Cooper -Not Listed – KneeCoop was not listed on the injury report and was able to fully practice all week. He will be back in the lineup and might be splitting time with Brandon Siler. Siler has played strong as the starter with Coop absent. Coop will need to play well to hold off Siler from stealing playing time.

G Kris Dielman – Probable – IllnessKris missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday due to illness. He was able to practice fully on Friday and will be the starter.

LB Larry English – Out – FootEnglish did not play last week and had surgery on his foot and should be back in a few weeks. Antwan Applewhite and Brandon Lang will see a lot more playing time this week with English out.

RB Ryan Mathews –  Probably – AnkleMathews will be back this week and will be able to play against the poor Cardinals defense. He fully practiced all week long and will take the starting position back from Mike Tolbert. Hopefully we are able to see Mathews score his first TD and shine in this game.

LB Shawne Merriman – Doubtful – CalfShawne was limited last week and did not finish the game. He was unable to practice all week and will more than likely miss the game. He missed the first game of the season with his achilles injury. Now he will be trying to recover from this calf injury and we all wonder if we will see Shawne healthy again.

Antwan Applewhite (SDSU) will be the starter for the game and has performed well in his limited action. He just seems to make plays when he is on the field. We will see what the increased playing time will do for him. Brandon Lang will be backing him up and he was an undrafted free agent brought in this season. He played well in the preseason and it will be a big test for him to step into the backup role.

LB Brandon Siler – Probable – FootSiler will play in this game and will resume his backup role behind Stephen Cooper. He will also be back on special teams and try to provide that spark to that unit. He has played well in Coop’s absence and looks to show off that Gator Chomp celebration a couple more times this weekend.

S Darrell Stuckey – Doubtful – HamstringStuckey mainly played on the special teams units and will miss the game. There have been a few people brought in to fill his spot. A few defensive starters will also join the squad.

G Louis Vazquez – Doubtful – KneeVazquez sprained his MCL last week and should miss a couple of weeks. Tyronne Green will fill in for Vazquez. Green had his ups and downs last week, but should be a capable fill-in for Vazquez.
