After the first Sunday of the regular season, the San Diego Chargers will have the opportunity to be alone at the  top of the division. Enough of the slow starts out of the gate for the Chargers, they need to take hold of the season from the start and just ride it out to the end. They have been given a break by the schedule makers to begin the season and should be off to a hot start. Our first 6 games are against the Chiefs, Jags, Seahawks, Cards, Raiders and Rams. If we do not have at least 5 wins after that opening, then people will be calling for Norv’s head AGAIN!!

Some things that we found out this weekend:

The Oakland Raiders still SUCK!!! Was there even a question? Jason Campbell came in and replaced fat JaMarcus Russell. Jason Campbell was the quarterback of a team that was 4-12 last season. His team actually did worse than the Raiders and he is expected to be the savior of this team. There have been no upgrades at the receiver position and his RBs  are Darren McFadden who has a better nickname (Run DMC) than football skills.

The Denver Broncos still have work to do. More than likely, they will be the team that will be competing with us for the division again. Kyle Orton is a smart QB and just gets the job done. The Bronco defense made David Garrard look like a pro bowl QB though. They will definitely be missing the presence of Elvis Dumervil. They allowed 3 sacks yesterday to a team that had 14 total last year. So there may be some adjustments that they have to make at the line.

Tonight, we will get to see our boys out there and we need to make a statement to the rest of the league. Let them all remember that the Chargers are still a team to reckoned with. Let’s rock this joint!!!
