In my book...

If you're my teams starting quarterback and you throw for 4,254 yards and 28 TDs, then you can taunt whoever you like and I won't say a thing. ;-)

Yup! Good catch. Haha. I must not be a morning person or partied a little too hard the night before.

Anyways, the point I was trying to make is that the transition from the 3-4 to the 4-3 is not impossible, just difficult for linemen sometimes.

At Seymours weight, 310 lbs, he could be a solid INTERIOR guy in a 4-3, but he's sticking at right end, where he's comfortable. Playing and in a 3-4 and playing end in a 4-3 are two completely different animals.

The 3-4, generally on passing downs, asks the defensive and on the right to try to occupy 2 blockers so that the linebackers can make plays. That's why a nose tackle should be much larger than a normal 4-3 interior guy. That's why Seymours weight worked for him in New England. if he shed just a couple pounds and got a little faster, then he would have had a lot more than 4 sacks in this season.

In the 4-3, with two interior linemen, the guys on the outside in the one-on-one matchups gotta be a bit faster since they are lining up against a tackle and maybe a tight end in max protection, a big difference from what he was doing in New England.

Difficult, but not impossible. Now Seymour is training himself to attack the edge more and leave the guards alone. Different moves for different schemes.

In a 3-4, he would usually try to get past the tackle in one quick move and let the tackle occupy himself with an outside linebackers, while Seymour found a much weaker guard to contend with and dominate. He would then stay home and weight for the ball-carrier on runs, or go attack the quarterback. When he get's to the interior, it gives him a shorter path to the QB. I loved seeing him do this. Haha.

Now he will just get behind Ryan Clady and pull him down by his hair. ;)

Bold move, Richard. Bold move.
