McNeill Isn’t Going Anywhere

Rumors about standout left tackle Marcus McNeill are not only unfounded, but they are FINALLY starting to die down. Good thing, too. Don’t you just get tired of being happy for Peyton Manning? Sometimes, I do.

I am just glad that it’s over. Not that I didn’t understand the enthusiasm of every Colts fan I know after that rumor started flying around, I just knew it was never doing to happen. For a restricted free agent, unless you are a top tier quarterback or something, a first and third round tender usually means you are probably not going anywhere.

Granted, some people think that spending so much money on tenders this off season was a stupid idea. However, in the long run everyone will realize how much cheaper it actually was to tender these players, rather than risk letting them test free agency waters and come back is a monstrous offer from another team that we couldn’t match or exceed so that player would be gone. Since this is the final year of the collective bargaining agreement, making the season un-capped, this was a brilliant move that kept a lot of stars in San Diego.

Rest assured, folks. McNeill isn’t going anywhere. That’s why we have the tenders.
