Looking Back: This Weeks Bolt Beat

AUTHOR: Chris Bowen | IN: Chargers | COMMENTS: None Yet

This is the beginning of the Sunday column I plan on maintaining through the year. This is the day each week that I plan re-visit the previous Bolt Beat  entries that I posted throughout the week in order to keep track of how often I am right, and of course how often I am not. Feel free to point out my mistakes for me.
State of the Chargers Address: It was here that we discussed the disappearance of the Chargers running game, and as far as I know, no moves have been made in the Tomlinson or Sproles department of the offense. L.T. may [...]

Bolt Beat Notes and Coverage

AUTHOR: Chris Bowen | IN: Chargers | COMMENTS: None Yet

There has been a lot of good news coming out of San Diego, particularly from Chargers.com reporter Casey Pierce, which has been a breath of fresh air for Chargers fans in an off season that has been shrouded in questions.
Casey reported that the San Diego special teams unit has finished seventh overall in the Dallas Morning News annual rankings of every special teams unit in the NFL, which is always done religiously by esteemed NFL writer Rick Gosselin. They deserve a round of applause as this kind of dominance will only continue.
Casey Pierce also reported that the complete Chargers coaching staff will [...]

Cromartie-Scope 2010

AUTHOR: Chris Bowen | IN: Chargers | COMMENTS: None Yet

Antonio Cromartie is under the microscope. Not quite Farve-Watch, but it seems to be one of the biggest buzzes going around the web at the moment. Matt Mosely wrote a fantastic blog in his NFC East domain of ESPN.com explaining why the speculation that Cromartie will end up in Dallas is a bad fit. He points out that there is simply no room for him as a defensive back with the likes of Mike Jenkins, Terence Newman, and Orlando Scandrick around. So most likely, Tashard Choice won’t be wearing Charger blue in 2010.
So, lets think about where Cromartie could go. Obviously SOMEBODY is [...]

Free Agency Priorities 2010

AUTHOR: Chris Bowen | IN: Chargers | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

The beginning of free agency transactions is looming. March 5th is just around the corner and there are some key names to watch in the Chargers lineup. Today we are going to take a look at each potential free agent in San Diego and see if we can get a good picture of what is going to happen. Obviously, the Chargers have never been a team to spend large amounts of money on game changing free agents. This year, that means practically nothing. Before the Chargers take a good look at ANY free agent acquisitions, they need to lock up [...]

State of the Chargers Address- Offseason

AUTHOR: Chris Bowen | IN: Chargers | COMMENTS: None Yet

It’s here folks, the off-season. No more NFL games for 7 months. Time for players to get much needed rest and time with their family’s. Time for a little arthroscopic invasion to come scrape out that knee to make room for next season’s scar tissue. The season never stops for the players, just us fans. Once again it’s the same old song and shuffle. The restlessness, the anxiety, and the flat out frustration of Chargers fans everywhere is enough to shake the Just For Men out of Dan Fouts’ whiskers.

The same darkness that most Chargers fans felt when they watched Michael [...]
