Chargers-Bengals Last Minute Preview

The Chargers-Bengals game starts in a little over an hour and I have a few last minute notes and thoughts.

Shawne Merriman is probable for the game today. He was having trouble with a foot injury which caused him to miss 2 days of practice this week. Shaun Phillips is listed as questionable with an ankle injury but is expected to play. Eric Weddle is back for sure after missing two games with a knee injury. Alfonso Boone(knee), Legedu Naanee(foot), and Kevin Burnett(neck) are also questionable. Mike Scifres(groin), Quentin Jammer(toe), and Travis Johnson(groin) are probable and expected to play.

With the rest of the team fully healthy and ready to play, it is sure to be a good game. Vincent Jackson is looking to break the 1,000 yard mark for this season for the second time in his career. He has 989 yards with 7 TDs on 58 receptions. He is averaging 17.1 yards per catch, which leads the team. He has been a huge part of the Chargers air attack this season.

Ladainian Tomlinson is hoping to break the 1,000 yard mark for the season in the next few games. He has 611 yards on 181 attempts with 3.2 yards per carry, the lowest of his career. If he does not reach 1,000 yards, it will be the first time in his career. This week could be a challenge for gaining yards rushing because the Bengals are ranked 6th in the league against the run.

Philip Rivers is on track to break the 4,000 yard mark for passing this season. He has 3,583 yards going into the Cincinnati game.

San Diego is ranked 7th in the league in total yards per game with 354.3 while Cincinnati is 12th with 322.5.

I did my share of preparing for the game. I was walking around the Fashion Valley Mall yesterday in San Diego and I ran into Bengals Receivers Chad Ochocinco and Andre Caldwell at the food court. I may or may not have put something in their food. Ok I didn’t put anything in their food.
