It could be worse. Plenty worse.
Sitting with a 2-1 record, the Chargers should consider themselves fortunate. All things considered, they could easily have a goose egg in the win column going into Week 4.
They’ve had to win without Tomlinson. Sproles has been an affable replacement, but he doesn’t have the same kind of power up the middle. I think Ray Lewis would agree.
LT’s absence notwithstanding, the Chargers offense has been abysmal in the red zone. Sundays victory over the Dolphins did little to fix the problem.
Against the Ravens in Week 2, the Chargers were 0-5 in the red zone. Sunday they [...]

Chargers Flea Flicker (Video)
Rivers to Sproles back to Rivers who throws it to Gates for the first down! Too bad this play didn’t go for six, but it was still very creative for Norv Turner. Here is the highlight:
Blackout Avoided; LT Sitting Out
The Chargers managed to sell enough tickets to avoid a television blackout, according to the Union-Tribune. Good news for the San Diego faithful who haven’t made the DirecTV Sunday Ticket plunge. It’s costly, but glorious.
While San Diegans can watch the Bolts battle the Ravens come Sunday, LT will not be on the field. The AP reported that the star running back will be held out of the home opener, only the second time he’s missed a game in his career. The ankle sprain was sustained last week against the Raiders, and coaches seem optimistic he’ll be good to go next week.
Also out for [...]
Bolts Blackout Extension
The NFL granted the Chargers a 24-hour extension to sell out Qualcomm and avoid their first TV blackout in five years, according to the Associated Press.
Bolts have until about 1pm Friday to sell just over 1,000 tickets to their home opener. They’ll host the Baltimore Ravens.
Go to www.Chargers.com for ticket information. I would imagine the organization would be hustling to get rid of these seats, so you might be able to get a deal.
And if you do check out the game this Sunday, you’ll be seeing LT wearing a protective boot.
Tomlinson sustained a mild ankle sprain in the first quarter last week. The [...]
Defense! Defense! Defense!
The Raiders stifling defense was on fire yesterday as the Oakland Raiders almost pulled off an upset on Monday night which would have put the Chargers in very familiar territory. The almost 10 million dollar man Philip Rivers dragged the Chargers to a 24-20 win over the Raiders which would mark their 12th straight loss to the Chargers and 11th straight on prime time Monday night football.
“One thing I know is no team in this league can practice two-minute situations as much as we do,” Rivers said. “It’s a little different executing it on Murphy Canyon Road as [...]
After coming off of a shaky 8-8 season in 08′ and having a great post season run only to lose to the super bowl champs, the San Diego Chargers open the new 09′ season tonight against the Oakland Raiders.
The Raiders have recently entered the controversy spotlight by letting quarterback Jeff Garcia leave per his request. The Raiders look like a mess especially after coming off a sad 5-11 season last year and now undergoing internal problems before their first game with the Chargers.
The Chargers are undergoing their own drama problems with linebacker Shawne Merriman having anger control issues with his [...]
