San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers signed a six-year contract extension worth- drum roll please- $93 million, according to the Associated Press.
$38 million will be guaranteed for Rivers, who is smashing all of Dan Fouts’ old school Chargers records for the position.
This contract puts Philip up there with the elite signal callers in the game, salary wise. He’s making Manning money, but the question remains- can he bring the Lombardi Trophy to San Diego? The Chargers certainly think so, and now they’re banking on it… big time.

Larry English is set to miss another exhibition game after pulling a hammy and missing team drills Wednesday. English missed the opening exhibition game in a 20 – 14 loss against the Seahawks in the 1st preseason game of the year. Seattle holds the record in wins against the Chargers in preseason games.
Although the Chargers lost, this is not the sign of things to come. When Saturday comes it will be a whole new ball game… without Larry English.

TODAY the Chargers are having their first open practice of the season from 7:00 – 9:20pm! Parking is free and hot dogs are only $1! The San Diego Chargers will be working hard for this seasons first pre-season game against the Seahawks on Aug. 15th. The first game of the regular season will be against the Raiders on Monday, Sept. 14th.
