All They Needed Was A Quarter Back

I wonder if the Chargers will contact the NFL Rules Committee and install a Mulligan-style out in case your offense vanishes for an entire quarter. Or maybe they can have five periods and only use the best four.

Oh what the Bolts would do if they could get the third quarter back. It’s as if all the late season playoff steam evaporated in the cold Pittsburgh air after halftime.

Three reasons why the Bolts lost:

1) MIA LT- Darren Sproles is a tough guy, but he was no match against the best defense in the league. Tomlinson was absent from the playoffs, again, when his team needed him the most. Injuries be damned. This is a trend, one that must be quashed if he’s to have any Lombardi Trophy style success with the Chargers.

2) Defense, defense, defense. I said it three times because that seems to be their favorite number. Converted third & longs in the third quarter caused a third bounce from the playoffs in as many years.

3) Coaching. Norv was beat by Tomlin, flat out. The Steelers game plan was sharp and effective. After the third quarter the Bolts dropped the stifled running game all together and relied solely on Rivers.

For a team that was pronounced done on this site months ago, they showed shades of greatness the past few weeks. But the same old lingering issues plagued the Bolts yet again.

General Manager A.J. Smith has to act this time around or we can expect more of the same next year.
